Internship Information
Students of the Department of Physics Engineering have to do 2 internships, 20 working days at the end of the 4th and 6th semesters, or 20 working days in different workplaces after the 6th semester.
The principles and practice of this internship are determined by the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Internship Directive and the Physics Department Internship Directive, which is based on the Istanbul Medeniyet University Undergraduate Regulation. The students who will do internship are obliged to read these two instructions before starting the internship procedures.
Below are the documents required to start and terminate the internship procedures and the procedures to be done by the student.
A. Internship Application Procedures
The company or companies to be applied for internship are determined.
Internship Application Cover Letter (for companies requesting documents indicating that the student is required to do internship), Mandatory Internship Form and the required places are filled in the Unemployment Fund Notification Document. Photos are pasted on the Mandatory Internship Form.
Internship Application Cover Letter form is approved by the Department Head.
Internship Application Cover Letter, Compulsory Internship Form and Unemployment Fund Notification Document are applied to the place of internship. In the Mandatory Internship Form and Unemployment Fund Notification Document, the parts that the company official must fill in are filled out and received. The mandatory internship form and the Unemployment Fund Notification Document must include the signature of the firm official and the firm stamp.
Compulsory Internship Form is approved by the Department Internship Committee.
B. Actions to Be Taken Before Starting Internship
By filling in the Intern Declaration Commitment, the Unemployment Fund Notification Document is delivered to the Faculty Secretariat at least one month before starting the internship, with the Mandatory Internship Form approved by the Department Internship Committee, and a photocopy of identity.
The Internship Acceptance Letter form and the Internship Evaluation Document are filled in and photos are affixed and approved by the Head of Department and the Internship Committee.
Internship Acceptance Letter and Internship Evaluation Document are delivered to the firm where the internship will be held and the internship is started.
C. Procedures Related to Internship Evaluation
Internship Evaluation Document is filled, signed and stamped by the company. Then, it is either sent to the department in a closed envelope by the company or delivered to the student in a closed envelope to be delivered to the members of the internship commission. The envelopes given to the student must be delivered to the members of the Department Internship Committee without opening them. Otherwise, the internship may be invalid.
The Internship Scoreboard is prepared separately for each calendar month (June, July, August, September). The ruler of each month is filled and approved by the supervisor at the place of study and a superior, and delivered to the faculty officer in the first 3 days of the month following the month (for example, the June ruler in the first 3 days of July). This process is mandatory for the approval of insurance transactions. Otherwise, the internship may be invalid.

Filling the Internship Report:
For each job assigned during the internship work, Internship Report Job Form is filled.
These forms are sorted according to their work order and the Internship Report Table of Contents document is filled in this order.
Necessary places are filled in the Internship Report Front Cover form and approved by the internship officer.
The report is delivered to the Department Internship Committee in accordance with the internship instructions of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the Department of Physics Engineering within the announced date after the end of the internship.
E. Other Important Issues Regarding Internship
At least one engineer must be present in the workplace where the internship will be carried out, depending on the nature of the field of activity.
The student is obliged to do his internship on the days written and approved in the internship documents and SGK transactions are made accordingly. Internships performed outside these dates will definitely be considered invalid.
Internship students are required to have 8 + 8 = 16 hours (approximately 2 days) of Occupational Safety Training and as a result they must have a Occupational Safety Certificate. Trainings will be held at our university and the time will be announced later on the department page.
F. 2018 Internship Times
Any of the 5 time periods below can be selected by students who will do internship in 2018. The end dates are written with the official holidays and firmann only on weekdays. If the internship company is working on Saturdays, the end dates can be calculated by taking the official holidays into consideration.
